Tuesday, September 06, 2005 — American Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet members are making their presence felt across the country to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Cabinet member Tim McGraw was one of many headliners at Friday’s NBC-Universal, “A Concert for Hurricane Relief,” while Univision Networks hosted a special edition of the hugely popular Sabado Gigante on Saturday featuring Gabriela Spanic, another cabinet member.
Meanwhile, cabinet member and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, went to Baton Rouge to deliver nearly 31,000 pounds of supplies with his brother, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. They dropped off much needed supplies and visited Red Cross shelters in the area.

“The National Celebrity Cabinet members are volunteers for the Red Cross just like so many others across the country,” said Julie Thurmond Whitmer, director of celebrity and entertainment outreach for the American Red Cross. “And just like those who have made financial and blood donations or graciously volunteered with their local Red Cross, our Cabinet members are helping to support those in need.”
Many well known figures are visiting residents in Red Cross shelters. In recent days Jamie Foxx, Diane Sawyer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Oprah Winfrey, Macy Gray, and John Travolta have all reached out to storm victims to offer their support.
