Researchers Study Shrimp Raising on Investor’s Demand

ADEN - Researchers are studying the feasibility of breeding shrimp in Al-Bureiqa county, following interest from a Saudi investor in setting up a shrimp farm. The National Center of Marine Science Research is conducting the study after a request from the investor who visited the center this month. The project, if carried through, will employ 50 experts at the center. Annual production of the center is projected to be 50 tons, liable to increase with exports. In 1995, a Japanese team managed to raise shrimp at the center. The team produced 10 tons of shrimp as a test production.
